Crews from B Shift Station 8 were first on scene of this abandoned building, located only 1 block from Firehouse 8.  Additional crews from E25 and E40 quickly arrived to back Engine 8 up as they all responded from Fire Administration.  Many units were at Administration for a retirement party, and when the fire was dispatched, the crowd went running for their trucks.  Crews made quick work of this fire, containing it to a cold storage room at the rear of the building.

Engine 8, who was operating in a reserve engine since their engine had been involved in a head on accident only days before this fire, was struck broadside by a Phoenix Police patrol car while responding to this incident.  As Engine 8 turned into the parking lot (responding Code 3), they were struck by the patrol car on the back Captains side door.  Their were no injuries, but as you can see from the photos, the Engine definitely won.  The accident is under investigation .
