The knot

TRT units were summoned when a report of persons trapped in this ventilation shaft. On arrival, E8 and E17 found all persons self-extrricated. 4 transients had lowered, then extricated themselves from the hole on a 50ft garden hose.

The garden hose that was used to exit the hole. Note how it is simply tied to the grate.

Notice the "complicated" knot used to affect the "rescue" on the confined space rescue call.
