Station 8 Apparatus

Behind the Eight Ball

Support 8 carries all of the Technical Rescue equipment for Station 8.  Support 8 was formerly called Heavy Rescue 8, but was later changed to Support 8 when the trench rescue and heavy rescue equipment were combined onto one truck.  Engine 8 and Support 8 are dispatched on calls as a team.  Members of Engine 8 will staff both apparatus when responding to calls as Support 8 has no assigned personnel.  Support 8 is equipped with a 65 foot telescoping crane arm which can be used for many different operations.  Support 8 also carries a full complement of Holmatro extrication tools, a full complement of trench rescue tools and shoring, an inflatable boat and wet suits for water rescues and much more specialized equipment.

Support 8 was manufactured in 1990 on a Saulsbury-Spartan chassis.
