Heavy Rescue 8 is is a 5 person Special Operations unit that was designed and funded through the Federal Goverment under the Rapid Response Truck Program. This unit will respond not only in their first due area to provide ALS care, but can also provide ladder functions such as ventilation and extrication.  Heavy Rescue 8 also is equipped with a full compliment of Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials equipment.

These rigs are currently dispatched as "Squad" but will soon change their designation to "Heavy Rescue."  A HR unit will respond on all structure assignments within 5 miles of their location, and all 1st Alarm and Greater Alarm responses to provide manpower, or one of their specialty components.
