Station 8 Apparatus

.

Engine 8 is a four person Advanced Life Support (ALS) Company that included members of the Technical Rescue Team. (TRT)  The TRT team is responsible for calls such as Mountain Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Heavy Rescue and Water Rescue. There are 2 E.M.T. personnel and 2 Advanced Paramedic personnel assigned to Engine 8.

Engine 8 is currently assigned equipment number 331021, a 2004 American LaFrance Mid-Engine Pumper with compressed air foam.

Engine 8 was formerly assigned a 1991 E-One Hush Pumper with an extended vista cab.

Pictures of both apparatus can be seen in this gallery. More photos of the new apparatus will be forthcoming as time permits.

E8 is equipped with:

150’ of 1.5” Crosslay

150’ of 1.5” Front Bumper

200’ of 1.75” Crosslay

200’ of 2” Rear Hose Bed

250’ of 2 ½” (Horizontal Standpipe) Rear Hosebed

1000’ of 4” supply line

100’ of booster hose (red line).

In addition to the normal engine company equipment, E8 is also equipped with each members technical rescue equipment, a “stokes” basket, a circular rescue saw and a battering ram to assist in forcible entry.

E8’s hose configuration consists of 2 cross-lay attack lines between the cab and the body of the apparatus.  A 1.5" and 1.75" attack line are ready for rapid deployment.  Both attack lines are CAF capable.

In addition to these 2 attack lines, E8 carries a quick attack line on the front bumper consisting of 150’ of 1.5” hose that is folded into the bumper for rapid deployment on car or trash fires, and the red booster hose kept on a reel behind the bumper.  Both of these lines are CAF equipped.

Up on top, E8 carries it’s 2 ½” hose in a horizontal standpipe configuration, and an additional 200’ of 2” line that can be pulled rapidly for large structure fires.  In addition to these attack lines, the 4” supply line is also flat loaded on the hose bed.

E8 received their new pumper in October 2004.  50 new American LaFrance Pumpers will be delivered to the Phoenix Fire Department over the next 3 years.
