27th Avenue Pallet Fire

Engine 8 was dispatched on the Second Alarm assignment for the pallet fire that occurred on Thursday, July 12, 2007.  Originally dispatched as an Unknown Fire, Rescue 8 was the first unit to arrive on the scene as the assignment was balanced to a 3-1 assignment. Engine 14 arrived on scene shortly after and found a large pallet manufacturing business with a large working fire.  Fire Station 21 was a direct exposure, and a stang gun had to be deployed to cool and protect the station.  The fire quickly progressed to a First Alarm, then Second Alarm as crews worked quickly to isolate the fire.

This fire not only completely destroyed the pallet business, but caused extensive damage to several tractor trailers that were stored in a yard to the west of the incident.  Engine, Rescue and Squad 8 all worked for several hours to bring this fire under control with no injuries reported on the scene.
